Documenting the historic Queensland Parliament sitting at Cairns Convention Centre, capturing key moments from official proceedings to Youth Parliament sessions.
A five-day event featuring formal sittings, Youth Parliament, and Indigenous Youth Parliament.
For the first time in years, Queensland Parliament convened at the Cairns Convention Centre, allowing Far North Queensland residents to witness their government in action without traveling to Brisbane. Over five days, the event included official parliamentary sittings, a Youth Parliament, and an Indigenous Youth Parliament. The Queensland Governor, Her Excellency Dr. Jeannette Young, also attended, highlighting the significance of this occasion.
Our team was tasked with documenting every facet of these proceedings—capturing formal debates, cultural ceremonies, and the enthusiasm of school students participating in Youth Parliament activities. This required a comprehensive approach that showcased both the gravity of parliamentary business and the inclusive, community-focused atmosphere of the event.
Delivering authentic photography that highlights official ceremonies and community participation.
Through meticulous planning and on-the-ground coverage, we photographed key moments such as ceremonial proceedings, speeches from elected officials, and the powerful interactions between students and dignitaries. Additionally, the Indigenous Youth Parliament showcased the voices of young First Nations individuals, reinforcing the importance of inclusivity and representation in government.T
hese images have been utilised across traditional media outlets, social channels, and internal reports, providing a lasting record of the historic sitting. By capturing the energy, cultural pride, and educational aspects of Queensland Parliament in Cairns, we helped illustrate how civic institutions can unite communities—and inspire future leaders to engage in meaningful governance.
