A vibrant, culturally grounded campaign designed to inspire awareness, resilience, and positive change in the Lockhart River community.
Custom illustration and bilingual design sparking awareness and community pride
The Lockhart River community faced challenges around alcohol misuse, impacting families, culture, and wellbeing. Leading with hope and empathy instead of fear, the council aimed to educate and inspire positive choices.
To celebrate themes of resilience, culture, and collective responsibility, we put together an illustrated calendar where every month told a new story. Pairing custom illustrations with practical (yet meaningful) copy written in both English and the local Indigenous language, the outcome promoted youth education, honoured Elders, and offered cultural storytelling that encouraged reflection and change.
Illustrations, patterns, and lock-ups built for any platform
Each artwork began by hand in pencil, then evolved into vibrant digital illustrations layered with thoughtful patterns and lock-ups. By translating the Council’s list of themes into symbolic visuals and positive messaging, we created a campaign that was not only functional as a calendar but also adaptable for posters, social content, and community signage.
This scalable system means that the campaign can continue to grow. Its messages are instantly recognisable whether displayed in homes, schools, health clinics, or shared online. More than design, it’s a visual language of resilience, built to support ongoing education and awareness across the Lockhart River region.
