Marketing Strategies

When you first start out on your digital marketing journey, it can be overwhelming. You’ve got guru after guru telling you what you should be doing, should not be doing, and can never ever do again ever. Every single one sounds completely matter of fact, and yet somehow, they all say something completely different.

Today I’m going to give you some Strategies for digital Marketing and ideas instead of hardcore ‘this is the only way that you can do this period’. I want you to walk away with not only a strategy, but multiple ideas on how to make it work for your business. That way, you can mold all of this to fit your exact business and your exact ‘zone of genius’.

So, let’s dive in to some of these strategies, shall we?

1. Get Social

I mean, in this day and age, almost everyone is on social media in some way, shape or form.
It used to be that only the ‘younger’ generation was avid social media users but now, you’re going to find grandma hitting up Facebook more than you do.
Which means, you need to be on social media.

So pick somewhere.

Which platform?
Well, that is where I leave you to make the right choice, again!
It all depends on the type of audience you are trying to attract, the types of content they life, and where you think they are likely to hangout.
Eg. If you sell handmade goods on Etsy, Instagram is probably going to be your shining star.

2. Organic is your friend

I’m not talking organic food (We’re not talking about Kale). We are talking about organic traffic my friends!!

Why is this going to be your biggest asset both as a beginner now, and a business all star later? Because, this is FREE traffic, organic traffic based on your content hitting those ever important search engines.

3. Create a ‘Content Calendar’

Figure out some type of way to hold yourself accountable to creating content. Whether it be videos, written blog posts, audio, what have you, you HAVE to create content for your website, often.

That is the only way for you to consistently have something for potential clients to find you with. If you aren’t putting out content, search engines won’t pick you up and you won’t get organic leads.

And like I said before, organic traffic is your BFF. You want it. You need it,
And content is the only way to get it.

4. Be consistent and persistent

Consistency is super crucial to your online strategy, whatever it may be.

If you are going to be posting content as a blog on your website, be consistent about it. Focusing purely on Facebook? Be consistent about it. Make sure that when you start posting, you keep posting.
And you do so as often as possible, on a regular schedule.

Once you get into the habit of doing this, it’s easy to keep it going. Digital Marketing  is not a quick and easy way for the floodgates to open.
You have to be persistent and keep going when you don’t see immediate traction.
That is where the habit of consistency comes into play.

5. Create An Email List

So, there are 2 schools of thought when you start diving in to creating an email list. The LOUDEST is ‘don’t bother with email, email is dead, BLAH’, and for some, that is true. The reason WHY it is true for some is because some people just suck at emailing their list. They really do. They go in half cocked when adding people to their list, don’t really follow up well, don’t add value every time they email, don’t email consistently and when they do email, it’s because they are pitching something.

That’s really the opposite of what should happen when you create an email list.
When adding someone to your list, it’s critical that they get more than just a ‘thanks for signing up here’s the thing you wanted to download’ email from you. It’s also critical that they hear from you fairly regularly.

How often?
That’s up to you and your ideal people. If you know your ideal customers don’t have time to read a weekly email, every 2 weeks is fine.

Got a group of people that need some extra TLC? Email a bit more often.
That’s the best part, there is no right or wrong answer. It’s up to you! You need to KNOW your clients
